Developing a skilled, confident and compassionate workforce is essential to reducing alcohol and drug harm and supporting recovery across Aberdeenshire. This should include all roles where there is contact with people affected by alcohol or drug use, whether directly or indirectly. Scottish Government has published a Drugs and Alcohol Knowledge and Skills Framework which is complimented by a Drug and Alcohol Workforce Learning Directory
- Frontline practitioners in health, social care, justice, housing, education and third sector services
- Managers, leaders and commissioners responsible for service planning, delivery and improvement
- Volunteers, peer workers and people with lived and living experience involved in support, advocacy or community activity
- Wider workforces such as community staff, employability services, youth workers and emergency responders
- Communities and organisations seeking to build awareness, reduce stigma and improve confidence in responding to alcohol and drug-related harm.
These national resources provide a shared approach to learning across alcohol and drugs, ensuring consistent, high-quality practice. AADP can fund courses on the learning directory that have a cost and support with organising the training. Please contact ADP Project Manager Claire.johnstone@aberdeenshire.gov.uk
