Mental Health Support

When you need help with your mental health or are finding it difficult to cope with things; know who to turn to.

Get urgent mental health help | NHS inform – If you have an urgent mental health need, there’s support available to get you the right care in the right place. If your GP practice is open, that’s the first place to go for help. Phone your GP practice and ask how they can help. If you can’t access help from your GP practice, phone NHS 24 on 111 and choose the mental health option. The NHS 24 Mental Health Hub can direct you to the right help.

Phone 999 or go to A&E now if:

  • someone has a life- or limb-threatening emergency like chest pain, severe bleeding or breathing difficulties
  • someone’s life is at immediate risk, for example by serious injury or overdose

Mental health services at NHS 24 | NHS inform – Anyone can experience mental health issues, at any point in their life. You don’t have to deal with these problems alone. Phone 111 if you’re:

  • feeling distressed
  • in a state of despair
  • suicidal
  • in need of emotional support

Living Life | NHS 24 (tel 0800 328 9655) – A free appointment-based telephone service for anyone over the age of 16 with low mood, mild to moderate depression and/or anxiety. Open Monday to Friday, 9am – 9pm.

NHS Inform Mental Health – identifying, treating and managing mental health problems and disorders.

NHS Grampian Healthpoint (08085 20 20 30) – for local help, advice and support.

Pillar Kincardine – a local Mental Health organisation whose mission is to improve the lives of adults living in Kincardine and Mearns who are seeking help to cope with emotional, social or mental health challenges. 

Samaritans – a safe place for you to talk any time you like, in your own way – about whatever’s getting to you. You don’t have to be suicidal.  Talk to someone if you’re having a difficult time or if you’re worried about someone else.

Breathing Space – free, confidential phone service for anyone in Scotland experiencing low mood, depression or anxiety.

Child Line – free private and confidential service where children can discuss whatever worries them.
